Configuration Management and Oracle Installation Lead

Savantage Solutions is seeking a Technical Configuration Management Lead to join our software delivery team. We are looking for an experienced professional with strong Git and GitLab experience, preferably with Linux, Ansible, and Oracle database experience as well. The role will involve both leading the day-to-day CM effort as well as overseeing good Git practices, helping identify improvement areas in the automation process, coordinating installation approvals, invoking automated installations, and tracking/maintaining status in our CLM tool.

 The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and able to collaborate effectively across development and infrastructure teams while supporting smooth code delivery and integration processes. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Configuration Management

  • Execute manual installation and configuration tasks within an Oracle enterprise (Oracle DB, EBS, OAS) e.g., applying data updates, resolving invalid objects.
  • Partner with application teams as the CM lead, ensuring that Oracle-based systems integrate smoothly with web services and other data exchange workflows.
  • Advocate for strong CI/CD practices and help cultivate a DevOps-oriented culture.
  • Provide coaching and training to team members on Git and GitLab usage.
  • Create change requests in SBM, our CLM tool. Handle migrations through multiple environments, and move code into our production enclave.
  • Invoke Fortify scans and mark up the results, when required.
  • Move approved code into AWS and manage the approval process for releases to Government testing environments.

Manual Database Code Deployment

  • Install and configure custom Oracle code components (such as PL/SQL scripts, triggers, and stored procedures).
  • Work alongside developers to ensure accurate deployments, migrations, and version tracking.
  • Maintain complete documentation of all database updates and adhere to established release protocols.

GitLab Integration

  • Use GitLab for source control, version tracking, and managing updates to database scripts and related code.
  • Coordinate with development teams to align database changes with application development needs.
  • Assist DevOps teams in integrating database updates into CI/CD pipelines and help automate deployment workflows where appropriate.

Database Performance & Troubleshooting

  • Conduct routine monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting to maintain optimal database performance.
  • Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks, resource issues, and other database-related problems.

Teamwork & Documentation

  • Work collaboratively across DevOps, Development, and Operations teams to minimize disruptions during database updates.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and developers.
  • Ensure all database procedures, updates, and configurations are properly documented and follow best-practice standards.

 

 Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

 The candidate must have:

  • Active Secret clearance required.
  • Demonstrated background in Git and GitLab.
  • Experience with Oracle database deployments, including hands-on installation of .sql files into a running database..

GitLab & Version Control

  • Highly skilled in using Git and GitLab for managing source code and version control.
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines, especially as they relate to automating database deployments.
  • Fortify, Ansible and GitLab Runner experience preferred.

Problem-Solving

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex Git issues (e.g. merge conflicts).
  • Independent decision-maker able to prioritize work based on customer and project needs.

Communication & Documentation

  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Skilled in producing clear, thorough documentation.
  • Able to identify areas for process improvement and articulate recommended changes.

 Education and Certifications:

  • CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Compensation

$100,000 - 130,000 (based on the National Capital Region)

This salary range is based on the National Capital Region and reflects our good faith estimate for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic region or market conditions, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the stated range.
